Edale – Second FL3 line for British printer

Edale installs a second FL3 line for label production at Sturday Labels in the UK (Souce: Edale)

UK • Sturdy Labels, based in Skelmersdale, UK, have recently purchased a second Edale FL3. The company’s third Edale press is an 8-colour, full UV, 350 mm (13.77“) wide FL3 production lines with some additional options including a crossover unit for 2 and 3 ply peel and read label production.

The machine also includes Edale’s AiiR (autonomous inking, impression and print registration) technology. It uses precision camera technology in order to improve registration accuracy, while automated print pressure control reduces wastage and set-up times. According to Edale, by fully automating print and the registration processes, the level of operator intervention can be reduced, leading to fewer errors and a more consistent, higher quality final product.

Sturdy Labels installed its first FL3 line three years ago. According to Simon Sturdy of Sturdy Labels “the operating efficiency of the press has enabled the company to win new business, increase production capacity and shorten turnaround times.”

He continues “Its modular construction allows additional print units to be easily installed – Edale recently installed a Stork screen print unit on our first FL-3 enabling us to meet particular demands.” Recently Edale has demonstrated its FL3 press at Labelexpo Europe, with a focus on automated label printing.
