BELGIUM • The Dutch-based printing press manufacturer MPS Systems will launch an innovation aimed at promoting interaction between MPS printing presses and management information systems (MIS). Labelled “talk to me” the new MPS connectivity technology allows for real-time data exchange and control.
According to MPS the “talk to me” concept is a protocol for exchanging data between MIS and MPS printing presses in order to supply real-time information required for. In addition to the regular MIS interface, press operators can be given access to extended ‘anytime, anywhere’ functionality via the specially developed ‘talk to me’ app, installed on Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
Data to be exchanged from the MIS to press includes the customer name, press run, colour sequence, tooling, material type and thickness, printing plate code and planning (job queue). Data from the press to MIS consists of the operator, printing speed, metres/yards printed (order status), waste produced (waste sheets), set-up and printing time.
Daily demonstrations of the connectivity concept will be given on the fully automated MPS EF multi-substrate press at the MPS stand. MPS will also display a second fully equipped EF press at the automation arena in hall 11. The Automation Arena will include two automated press lines for digital and conventional label production, from job creation through to pre-press, printing, finishing and invoicing.
The new concept and app will be officially premiered at the upcoming Labelexpo Europe 2017 from 25 to 28 September at Brussels Expo on MPS in hallt 11, stand 11C20.
