The MPS EF Neo press with integrated hybrid curing system by GEW
BELGIUM • The upcoming Labelexpo Europe will see Dutch manufacturer MPS launching new a raft of technology (Hall 11 Stand C20). The MPS EF Neo press, principally an evolution of the long-popular EF platform range, receives new technologies such as die-cut solutions, hybrid drying solutions, new software with close loop print pressure setting solutions, and the next generation iControl for an even better operator interface with modern touch-screens to simplify control with updated buttons and icons that more reflect today’s computer technology.
The EF Neo is available with MPS’ latest die cutting solution, the automatic QCD that has been developed with Kocher + Beck. The dual system allows the operator to load tooling for the next job while the press is running, and simply throw a switch to disengage the old tooling and activate the new when the press is stopped. Estimated to save 5-10 minutes per changeover, QCD stores jobs in its memory for repeat work and can also access the machine’s library of substrates. A manual gap adjustment facility is available to compensate for magnetic flexible die wear.
In cooperation with UV curing systems manufacturer GEW, MPS will show the latest hybrid curing system that uses conventional arc and LED lamps for low migration inks on label and filmic substrates. GEW uses the same lamp housing for both systems with interchangeable slide-in slide-out cassettes, and the same power supply and control via the Rhino ArcLED automatic unit that recognises which is being used, and adjusts power accordingly. This promises high-speed operation with low energy consumption and a more consistent cure with better adhesion.
Presco NW is an image based closed-loop pressure control device, designed specifically for narrow web presses and based on the AVT Helios system. Designed as an entry level to full 100% monitoring, Presco uses cameras to read the dots and adjusts the print pressure via the servomotors, as required.
