UPM Raflatac – New conformable film combining PP and PE characteristics

Possible applications for UPM’s new flexible film (Source: UPM Raflatac)

FINLAND • UPM Raflatac launches Raflex Pro, a new flexible film with high transparency for contoured and shaped containers. The new product is added to the company’s family of conformable films alongside Raflex MDO, a solution for squeezable containers that have previously been reliant on polyethylene (PE) labeling materials.

According to the company, there are two film labelling options: PE offering flexibility for squeezable bottles, and polypropylene (PP) providing transparency and gloss for rigid containers. Raflex films have been developed to offer the benefits of both films in a single material, providing both flexibility and transparency for several containers.

According to the company, for applications where PP would be too rigid, Raflex Pro is set to combine an ultra-clear finish with good conformability on contoured and semi-squeezable containers with the aim to offer a high-quality, no-label look,. With chemical resistance and stability it is set to be suitable for home and personal care, food, and beverage applications.
