Cartes – Invisible Laser Cutting system shown at Labelexpo Americas
USA • As the company annocuned the machines showed on Cartes stand have been sold to label manufacturers that allowed their exhibition during Labelexpo Americas 2018. Cartes showed innovations for the label market, such as on the newest Gemini series, the Invisible Laser Cutting (ILC) system. They further announced the fifth installation of a Cartes line at Quintero Impresores in Chile.
The Cartes embellishment line GT364 WHSR exhibited at the Labelexpo Americas 2018 was purchased by Quintero Impresores S.p.a. Chile which produces high quality labels for the wine sector. For theChilean label print shop it is the fifth CARTES machine installed.
According to Cartes its ILC system allows the ability to convert basically any substrates, preventing the typical and unsightly “white edge” on dark color printed labels, adhesive overflow, baking liner marking and make easier the matrix removal in case of complicated cutting shapes.
As the company states, due to its Image Distortion System (IDS), it is now possible to re-use pre-existing dies created for specifics cylinders, even worn, to die-cut different lengths. The IDS allows the customer to widen and narrow multiple label lengths up to 20% from the original die, always keeping label interspaces constant.
Another innovation was announced by Cartes to the semi-rotary die-cutting unit is the Air Gap System (AGS): being electronically controlled, it allows an absolute cutting depth accuracy from the first cycle. This also eliminates the possibility of breaking dies by a wrong adjustment as well as avoiding material waste – according to the company.
