BELGIUM • At Labelexpo Europe 2017, SPGPrints shows high-performance solutions for every step in the rotary screen printing workflow for labels and packaging. The company further unveils first details to its Pike 700 industrial hybrid UV inkjet press.
According to the company its 100% nickel re-imageable RotaMesh and re-usable RotaPlate screens offer stability at over 100 m/min (330 fpm), and create high-value effects from three-point text to tactile varnishes, Braille and glitter. SPGPrints demonstrates its new automatic RotaPlate Screen Cleaner plus laser imaging prepress systems for high-definition rotary screen, flexo, letterpress and dry-offset, and presents information about its PIKE 700 industrial hybrid UV-inkjet press.
SPGPrints provides a video preview of its Pike 700 UV inkjet hybrid press that combines high-resolution digital capabilities with extensive pre-treatment and added value finishing processes, in a single pass, at high speed.
The 700 mm wide roll-to-roll press based on Archer technology features up to ten inkjet positions in a central cylinder configuration, with CMYK plus white standard, using SPGPrints’ inks.
According to the company, with maximum resolutions of 1200 dpi, Pike 700 allows excellent vignettes that outperform conventional printing technology; it also enables consistent colour uniformity within 1.5 DeltaE, on both supported and unsupported paper and film materials up to 450 microns thickness. Furthermore, the optional integration of rotary screen printing units, seamlessly inline, enables inclusion of “look and feel” effects. The versatile solution is suitable for short and long production runs.
The company’s screen ranges RotaMesh and RotaPlate cover a range of applications from coarse effects and Braille to fine linework and text as small as 3-point size. A new addition to the RotaMesh programme is a 40-mesh re-imageable seamless nickel RotaMesh screen for glitter effects. Also new is a developer and washing system for imaging RotaPlate screens, providing a fast, automated imaging solution with minimal manual input and outstanding reproducibility, without risk of error.
Retrofittable RSI (rotary screen integration) will be demonstrated at Labelexpo Europe 2017. Also RotalEN 7511, a direct CO2 laser engraving system for imaging rotary screens with resolutions up to 5080dpi in one fully digital step, will be on display as well as Varilex hybrid CtP processor, a digital imaging solution for flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress imaging. RotaPlate Screen Cleaner is a new device which automatically develops and dries all types of screens, from Braille to fine text, in one workflow.
