Interview series 20 years label printing – Part 2 with MPS: “A step in the automation of HQ flexo printing”
A comment by Bert van den Brink, technical director at MPS Systems, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of NarrowWebTech.
Since the foundation of MPS in 1996 (almost the same age as NarrowWebTech) a lot has changed in the label industry. I think, generally, you can say that there has been a shift in focus: from printing quality, to automation, to process control.
I think the step in automation of high quality flexo technology has been the biggest development in the last 20 years. Over the last few years, inkjet technology and thus hybrid presses in combination with flexo, has been growing considerably.
The next step is connectivity, with developments going faster and faster. The step to connectivity has been taken, and will be increasingly implemented very soon.
