AB Graphic: 60 years in business

The employees of AB Graphic celebrating the 60th anniversary

UK • The supplier of label converting systems is celebrating 60 years in business. On occasion of this anniversary, every member of AB Graphic International world-wide was presented with a bottle of champagne labelled with a commemorative, digitally printed design that was finished on one of its Omega Digicon systems.

Established in 1954 by George H. Burton as Burton Engineering, AB Graphic International has remained a wholly-owned family business within the world-wide label converting industry. In its early years, the company’s focus was on producing a range of tag and ticket converting lines within the paper converting industry. In 1977 the company re-branded and AB Graphic International was established broadening its product offering to the wide range of label finishing and inspection/rewinding systems it now offers. The acquisition of a number of industry related manufacturing operations in the years from 1983 to 1994 further broadened engineering capabilities to encompass the Vectra range of turret rewinders. Sales and manufacturing operations were established in The Netherlands, Spain and the United States in the years from 1989 to 1999, followed more recently by operations in France and Germany.

Significant milestones include the expansion of the company’s capabilities in relation to digital printing technology with the introduction of the Omega Digicon series label converting line in 2008 and a move to new premises in 2006 bringing all its UK manufacturing operations under one roof. The development of the Omega Digicon with enhancements and finishing modules aimed at fully automating the label printing process continues and is reflected in the recent launch of the Omega Digicon Series 3 in the company’s sixtieth year of operation.
