Ajanta Packaging: Adding capacity

INDIA. At the recent labelexpo europe the company ordered two Nilpeter FB-3300S presses. Chandan Khanna, Managing Director, Ajanta Packaging, says, »It was time we added machines in our plants. We acquired one machine before the show and decided on the next two at the show.«

With four plants in total, two in India and one each in Dubai/UAE and Bangkok/TH, Ajanta Packaging now has a total of three Nilpeter presses, one each in its Daman, Baddi and Dubai plants. The fourth Nilpeter will soon be installed in the Baddi plant, the second installation for this factory.

The two presses bought at the show are for the Daman and Bangkok plants. All these presses were purchased from the Nilpeter plant in Chennai and will be installed by the middle of next year. These are highly customised ten-colour and above presses with features such as gravure, hot and cold foiling, and screen printing. With the addition of these two presses, Ajanta Packaging will now have 11 units in its four plants.

The company has seen growth of more than 20% on its top line, but Khanna says that the bottom line is under pressure. »You have to be more efficient and buy more presses if the bottom line is shrinking. These presses we have bought have a short web path so we save on wastage and contribute to the environment while helping the bottom line.«
