Heidelberg to sell Gallus folding carton presses in UK and Ireland

Paul Thompson

UK The retirement of long-time industry professional, Jim Dunlop, of CPL Solutions has prompted a move that will see Heidelberg UK take over the sales of Gallus folding carton machines in the UK and Irish markets.  This will allow Gallus to utilise Heidelberg’s expertise in folding cartons and die cutting equipment.
Speaking for Heidelberg, Product Manager for the Folding Carton Portfolio, Paul Thompson commented: “This is an exciting development for Heidelberg and shows our continued commitment to the UK and Irish packaging industry.  Gallus has a known pedigree for producing high quality and technically excellent machinery. They have an established and proven installation base in this market.”
Thompson, who will lead this new development, will be supported by the Heidelberg sales and service teams throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and sees the portfolio as an excellent fit with the Diana folder gluer and Dymatrix and Varimatrix die-cutters in the Heidelberg range.
Gallus offers a range of roll fed flexo folding carton technology in both UV and water-based formats with in line finishing, including die cutting and value added options for quality output.  These include the Gallus ICS 670 and smaller format CCS 510 machines that can print flexo, gravure and screen, finish with hot or cold foil stamping, varnish, laminate, and reverse side print, all in one process pass.
Gallus also manufactures larger format machines under the INTRO brand name, with a focus on high volume production and liquid packaging.  These are manufactured in the former BHS plant in Weiden, Germany, which was acquired some years ago.
The Gallus equipment produces a wide range of work from fast food packaging to foiled cigarette packs, pharma boxes, health and beauty care packaging, as well as confectionary applications, lottery tickets and liquid packaging printing.  The Swiss company will continue to serve the labels market directly.
