Herma – Five million Euro investment for specialty materials

A coating machine with a high-precision rotating bar nozzle enables Herma to cover new application areas

GERMANY • The manufacturer of self-adhesive materials has invested around five million euros in production facilities and processes for specialty materials. Herma has equipped an existing coating plant for UV acrylate adhesive with an additional rotating bar nozzle that allows for very precise dosing. During adhesive application with 20 g/m2, they thereby reach tolerances of ±1 g/m2. Especially for specialty materials, low tolerances are a key factor for ensuring the safe functioning of the label later on. According to the company, even when applying adhesives with 40 g/m2, tolerances do not exceed ±2 g/m2. In addition, a new cutting machine was specially designed for a wide range of material constructions, thicker label stock, and slim tapes.
