Herma UK – Fundraising through physical exertion

The Herma UK team mastered the “Race The Sun” challenge and raised money for medical research

UK • The British subsidiary of self-adhesive specialist Herma have continued their tradition of charity fundraising through physical exertion. On June 27, the team of four mastered the “Race The Sun” challenge in the Welsh Brecon Beacons national park. The participants not only cycled a total of 45 miles (72.4 km), but also climbed Pen y Fan – the highest summit in South Wales at 2,907 ft (886 metres) – and canoed 1.7 miles (3 km) across Pontsticill Reservoir.

76 teams participated and raised more than GBP 150,000 for Action Medical Research for Children – this organization funds medical research into diseases that affect children. The Herma team raised GB 3,000 towards the total donations in advance. True to the name of the event, the total distance had to be covered between sunrise and sunset. With a time of nine hours and two minutes, they finished at a respectable 27th place.
