Labelexpo Europe in today’s world
The NarrowWebTech August issue means another Labelexpo Europe show issue! During four days and in nine halls the largest trade show for the label industry will be showcasing new products from about 600 exhibitors. The key question will be: what will be THE topic visitors talk about? The ongoing automation or a certain technology such as digital printing?
Recently I visited a large flexo printer delivering labels to the whole of Europe. Within half a year this company had purchased a digital press and flexo line for label printing. Now they are comparing these technologies and will have this in mind for their next buying decision. Thus, what will be your next major line? A digital one, a flexo/offset/screen or a hybrid line. In case of the printer, a hybrid label press could be a good choice because it combines the advantages of digital and conventional printing.
In addition to this, there is another question: Are trade shows such as Labelexpo Europe still up to date? In our summary of comments the editorial team of Narrow- WebTech and its sister magazines give their different opinions creating a bouquet of personal views. Brexit and Trump’s election – these two political earthquakes since the last Labelexpo Europe edition two years ago impact not only the European industry, but also the way companies are and will work together worldwide. Might this years’ edition even be the last Labelexpo Europe with United Kingdom as EU member? Just writing these words is frightening. The future cooperation within Europe is unforseeable. We can hope that the partnership with the UK continues in a positive and effective way because cooperation across borders is one of the most important cornerstones of each side of the discussion about the future economy.
Thus, the number of partnerships are also growing in the label and package printing industries in order to combine the strength of two or more companies and offer a better product than before. In a decade in which the quality of labels is very high because of the advances in the whole printing and converting process, waste is a big issue. An efficient ink management system and in general, the re-use of materials is just the obvious conclusion.
Anyway, maybe when you are reading these lines, you are standing amidst a crowded hall, having this issue in your hands and reading our Labelexpo Europe Preview. If so, please give us your feedback. Is the preview well done? Does it meet your needs? Or are there some improvements we could make or some details missing?
