Herma: Successful fundraising campaign
GREAT BRITAIN. Outside the main entrance, after arriving on schedule for the start of the Labelexpo fair, Herma representatives presented three cheques in the amount of the funds raised by the HERMAbike trip from Newbury/GB to Brussels/B.
Seven cycling enthusiasts of Herma UK covered a distance of 482 km (300 miles). The journey took them to six destinations en route and raised a total of GBP 35,000 (app. EUR 41,000). The funds are now supporting three charity projects.
Division Director Colin Phillips, who was among the riders, presented Doug Emslie, CEO Tarsus, with a cheque for GBP 8500 to assist »Events for Namuwongo« – an aid organisation that supports the community of the same name on the edge of Kampala in Uganda.
Another member of the team, Paul Eggbeer, handed over GBP 12,250 for »Cancer Research UK« to Finat-President Kurt Walker. And Dr Thomas Baumgärtn er, Managing Director Herma, gave a further GBP 14,000 pounds to Lisa Milburn, Managing Director Tarsus, for »Breast Cancer UK«.
When the initiative was launched, Colin Phillips regarded GBP 15,000 as a realistic target. After raising more than twice that amount, he was both grateful and delighted. »We sincerely thank all of Herma’s partners and all the other benefactors who have so generously backed the campaign. The people who ultimately benefit from the money handed over today genuinely need this kind of support and direct aid.«
