Sun Chemical – Honoured with NAPIM Pioneer Award

Robert O’Boyle of sun Chemical received the 2015 NAPIM Pioneer Award

USA • Sun Chemical’s Robert O’Boyle has received the 2015 National Association of Print Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM) Pioneer Award. One of the most distinguished awards in the ink manufacturing industry, this award honours those who have given at least 25 years of service to the printing ink industry in addition to service work with ink associations, production clubs and other committees. NAPIM also considers technical contributions in the areas of laboratory, engineering, production or product development.

Currently a product manager of coatings at Sun Chemical, Robert O’Boyle has held a variety of technical and management positions in the industry for over 35 years. His management in research and development has led to many innovative water- and solvent-based inks for food and non-food packaging. He has also been instrumental in developing and advancing nanoparticle technology. A frequent speaker who shares his knowledge about barrier coatings, liquid inks and curing technologies at multiple events, including AIMCAL (Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators), TAPPI (Technological Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry), and the FTA (Flexible Technical Association), he is a member of several associations, including the FTA, TAPPI and the IoPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals).
