Gallus – Digital label entry level press Smartfire launched

SWITZERLAND • With the Gallus Smartfire, Gallus presents a starter model for digital narrow web label printing at its Innovation Days 2018. The four-colour (CMYK) Gallus Smartfire prints with Memjet printheads with water-based inks with up to 1600 x1600 dpi (9 m/min). The first customer shipping will be in September this year.
According to Gallus, the new line is easy to use, economically affordable and suitable for any work environment.
According to Gallus, with this digital press, only a few prepress skills are required to create professional CMYK four-colour inkjet labels. Ink containers are replacable and the exchange of the print head is also possible. Furthermore, this machine also delivers finished die-cut labels, produced in one pass and ready for shipping on the reel. Due to the waterbased inks, so the company, no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are necessary.
A finishing unit is attached, on which the labels are laminated and cut. This can be either done individually by the integrated cutting plotter or by punching with the semi-rotary die cutter at the end of the inline finishing unit. The line runs with 9 m/min at 1600 x 1600 dpi – 16 m/min (52 fpm) at 18 m/min – and has a printing width of 220 mm (8.66″) and web width of 240 mm (9.45″). As maximum print output Glalus names 238 m2/h.

At its Innovation Days Gallus also introduces a new line (Screeny) as well as some new features such as:
Gallus Labelfire, newly equipped with a fully integrated printing unit
Gallus Labelmaster Advanced with an automatic transverse and longitudinal register control
Gallus RCS 430 equipped with flying imprint and fast UV ink drying
Gallus RCS 340 with web shifting for multi-layer label production
