Idvac – MiniMet 300 for vacuum metallizing applications
UK • The MiniMet 300 coater is a narrow width, skid mounted, free standing vacuum coater designed as a pilot or a small scale production platform to coat flexible films and film label substrates with aluminium, utilising a thermal evaporation source. The machine can be retrofitted with advanced sources/processes to provide other coatings including zinc sulphide, copper, titanium, and chrome. Alternatively, it can be retrofit with either sputtering or electron beam sources. Films up to 500 mm (20”) in width and 12-200 micron in thickness can be metallized at maximum speed of 200 m/min (656 fpm).
Founded by Professor Nadir Ahmed in 2004, Idvac Ltd. of Manchester is a developer of advanced metallizing processes for packaging, labels and certain niche markets. They developed and introduced new vacuum metallizing processes and technologies including HRI (ZnS), copper, chrome alloy, dry gold colour finish, colour shift, SiOx, SnOx and other processes to the security and packaging markets. Idvac is collaborating with Emerson& Renwick Ltd, a manufacturer of web handling machinery for the coating and laminating and printing industries, including special application vacuum metallizers and web coating technologies for optical thin films and barrier applications.
