MGI – JETvarnish 3DW for digital label converting at drupa
GERMANY • The French company MGI shows the JETvarnish 3DW digital converting device at drupa 2016 (Hall 5 D 21). It allows label printers to go digital for spot UV coating and hot-foil embossing without dies, screens or tooling for web widths of up to 420 mm (16.53”).
The system is designed for both 2D (flat) and 3D embossed spot coating of flexo, offset or digital web-fed printed substrates. Hot-foiling can be added with metallic and colored foils to add value to label designs. The JETvarnish 3DW also has an inline flexo station that applies a pre-coating treatment to label substrates not originally planned for inkjet processing. This flexible solution offers a great compatibility advantage to label printers who use a diverse range of printing technology (digital, offset or flexo). The systems processes coated, uncoated and textured paper, white or transparent synthetics, PP, PE, POPP, PET and also folding carton/light cardboard for packaging. The thickness range spans from 50 to 400 microns.
The JETvarnish 3D W gives extra added-value and sensory dimensional textures to printed label output. The 100% digital technology provides quick prototyping, short run customization flexibility and the ability to use variable data for personalizing text & graphics on every piece produced. Labels digitally finished with this system provide eye-catching sensory enhancements and tactile sensations that brand owners are looking for to distinguish their products in the marketplace.
