Omet – New label press launched during Converflex

Print and die cylinder alignment for the new iFlex press is performed using the iLight laser pointer

ITALY • Narrow web press manufacturer Omet used the occasion of Converflex in Milan to launch two new web presses at its Lecco headquarters. One of them, the iFlex, is an entry-level label press, available initially with a 370 mm (14.6”) web width and up to eight colours. Designed as a simplified version of their X-Flex range, the iFlex is a mechanically driven press with a line shaft and only one gear (on the impression cylinder), and a short web path of 1.3 m (4.3 ft) to reduce changeover waste. Each print unit is fitted with a mechanically linked Vision camera system that gives real time register setting – all cameras moving at the same time to capture the central repeat mark.

Print and die cylinder alignment is by Omet’s new iLight laser pointer, which makes for fast set-up, with a trolley used to switch the heavy dies in the quick change unit, in which the cylinders are positioned vertically. Matrix rewind is their own “Rock ‘n’ Roll” system for high-speed operation on difficult label shapes. A screen print head is available as a slide-in unit, while a rail system accommodates web turning, cold foil, and lamination. Curing is UV, UV+WB or WB, and the iFlex is future proofed for UV-LED.
